I practiced the Universal Loving-Kindness exercise and was not able to really get the full effect of it I think. I just cannot seem to wrap my mind around repeating those phrases and allowing my heart and mind to expand because of them. I feel that I do have some sort of universal loving-kindness instead of just personal love. I will keep practicing this one and see if I can get my mind to focus better.
Next I tried the Integral Assessment. I started with a still and silent mind and focused my attention on the four quadrants of the integral map. One area that I need to address for myself would be my nutrition. I live off of junk food and hardly eat anything that is even remotely healthy for me. I will eat cereal or TV dinners for my dinners and cookies and/or candy for snacks throughout the day. Thankfully my mom gave me good genes so that I can do this and not gain any weight but I know my eating habits are not good for me once I get older. I can start to eat healthier slowly by incorporating fruit into my diet for breakfast and then day by day I can add in more fruits, vegetables, and grains into my daily meals.
OMG that is a scary plate for me! Even though you don't gain weight it still isn't good for you but at least you're being honest! That's a big "high five" to you. I have to go work out now after looking at that!
ReplyDeleteHi Robin You know when I was your age I was the same way I could eat anything any time and as much as I wanted and never gained a pound. It was great never had to diet. Then I turned 40 and everything slowed down I still enjoy eating and love to snack but the pouds start to add up. I wish I would of had better control when i was younger so I wouldn't have the extra pounds today. I know it's great the way you are now but take it from someone who has been there and done that learn now to eat right cus it will catch up to you. I never thought I would have an issue and wish someone would of said something to me. So becareful it does happen and could happen to you. Just start slow or at least just pay attention to what you are eating and when you are eating it will make a difference. Have a great week. Pam12
ReplyDeleteRobin, I agree with you that is was rather tough to really focus on the exercise in the sense of visualizing "sending out vibes". I dont think of myself as a selfish person and try to live a generous and thoughtful life. My life has been dedicated to helping others and I feel like that is my way of practicing loving-kindness.
ReplyDeleteAs far as your nutrition... I am such a sucker for a good burger and some beer-battered onion rings... dear god. However, at 35, its starting to "show".. lol. for me, attempting to make healthy choices more regularly, as well as trying to exercise has been my goal. although I still "cheat" from time to time, I do feel that choosing lower-calorie options has been effective and makes me feel more energetic and "healthy".
Hi Robin,
ReplyDeleteIs that a hamburger and fries on the picture? Hmmm, does it have anything to do with the name of your blog? Nonetheless, I love it. It looks so good. However, your right- you should definitely incorporate some healthy foods into your diet. Try starting off small. If you love hamburgers, try a turkey burger. I had one for dinner yesterday and it was great! My downfall is potato chips so I'll snack on some carrots or celery just so I can get the "crunch" that I crave. My husband has a small frame as well and he eats everything unhealthy but he recently had a high cholesterol reading so I'm helping him with his diet. Anywho, you look great so thank your mother for the "high metabolism gene". :-)
